Diakon Kathryn's Kloset assists with recovery efforts in Baltimore

Baltimore, Md. (Friday May 1, 2015)

Diakon Kathryn's Kloset is working with vendor-partners in the City of Baltimore to help provide supplies to families and individuals whose local stores were vandalized or otherwise damaged in recent civil unrest in the city.

"We are coordinating product donations and distribution for several agencies involved in relief work," says Wade Brown, executive director of Diakon Kathryn's Kloset, which is located just outside the city in Baltimore County.

Diakon Kathryn's Kloset solicits corporate donations of cleaning and personal care products and makes them available to non-profit organizations to distribute, withcost cost to the end-recipient, to people in need in various underserved communities. In addition, the program has historically been involved in social service and related projects to aid residents of the city.

"In some neighborhoods, people have not had ready access to toiletries and other personal care and cleaning items, so DKK has stepped in to help," says Brown, who praised the work of Diakon Kathryn's Kloset's various partners for the direct relief and clean-up work they are doing in the city, nothing that the Diakon program is serving as behind-the-scenes support.
