Cumberland Crossings breaks ground for new cottage-home development
Carlisle, Pennsylvania (Monday June 7, 2021)
Cumberland Crossings residents and Diakon executive staff today broke ground for a new development of senior living cottage-homes on the Carlisle campus of the senior living community.
With other independent living residents and Cumberland Crossings staff watching, Diakon executives, the president of the residents association and one of the first new residents of the expansion tossed shovelfuls of dirt to symbolize the start of the project, construction on which has begun. The Rev. Judy Strayer, chaplain, offered the invocation and benediction for the ceremony.
The Continuing Care Retirement Community, located at 1 Longsdorf Way, is building 10 new freestanding homes in its independent living level of service; the community also offers skilled nursing and personal care services.
The new cottage-homes, known as the LeTort, Manchester and Winchester models, will incorporate between 1,400 and nearly 1,900 square feet of living space.
The homes feature a master bedroom suite with walk-in closet, two or three additional bedrooms, an open living/dining area, kitchen, sunroom, patio and two-car garage. They include 24-hour call systems and priority access to care within the village’s personal care and rehab/nursing care centers. The senior living community currently has more than 100 independent-living homes on its campus.
For information about the homes, people should contact Melissa Stanton.
